Healthy Summer Treats for the CF Family

If you’re looking for some healthy summer treats, here are a couple of recipes that you can adjust for the special nutrition needs of your CF star.

First up, Strawberry Mango Yogurt Popsicles. These would make a great addition to your summer barbecue. Made with Greek yogurt (organic if possible), these will not only satisfy your sweet tooth, but provide plenty of fat and protein for your CF star.

Some modifications for your family needs:

If your star needs more calories, consider adding a handful of chopped nuts or dark chocolate chips to the mix before freezing.

If you have family members (with or without CF) who are avoiding dairy, you can still make these pops using coconut yogurt along with your mango and strawberries. Consider adding a scoop of vegan vanilla protein powder to the mix to bump up the protein content of the pops.

Pineapple Coconut Soft Serve This one is made with coconut cream (great source of the extra calories and fat your CF star may need). It is so cool and refreshing! The coconut cream give it its thickness, so if you want a lower fat version, try using lite canned coconut milk and freezing into pop instead.

If you’re craving something lemony, give these Lemon Coconut Power Balls a try. They are easy, delicious and include some collagen for some key amino acids to support health skin, bones and joints

Enjoy making these nutritious and delicious summer treats!
